Community: Downtown Phoenix

Description

Join us at GateWay Community College for the opening of our new exhibit in collaboration with Cahokia, "RESTORING THE BALANCE."

Event Details

GateWay Community College's Center for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Art Gallery, and Center for Student Life & Leadership are excited to host the public unveiling of a new collaborative exhibit. Cahokia Socialtech + Artspace has partnered with Local Matriarch and Gateway Community College to create an art exhibition that will showcase the works of Indigenous artists spanning across two venues: the Gateway Community College Gallery (on view starting October 7) and Cahokia’s Socialtech + Artpace in downtown Phoenix (on view starting October 10). Artists and students will be able to take advantage of capacity building workshops and lectures specially crafted for emerging Indigenous artists. RESTORING THE BALANCE is part of the programming for the upcoming Indigenous Peoples' Day Phoenix Fest.

Given the anticipated demand and limited space for this event, each registration is limited to 4 tickets. Duplicate registrations will be voided.

Statement on "RESTORING THE BALANCE: Rematriating Indigenous Lands"

RESTORING THE BALANCE will showcase the works of an intergenerational group of Indigenous artists, coming together to build community, share stories, and preserve ancestral traditions.

This event is sponsored by GateWay’s U.S. Department of Education Title V Hispanic Serving Institution grant ÉXITO (#P031S190167).
